Martin Jüssi

Martin Jüssi

Martin Jüssi, Director Consulting Services - Space and Earth Observation at CGI in Tartu. Martin graduated at the Department of Geography here in Tartu with an MSc in GIS & Cartography and an MSc degree from the International Space University and entered the software development pathway. He is active in the local and global geospatial and space sector ecosystem and a regular mentor in hackathons.

Taavi Pae

Taavi Pae

Taavi Pae is associated professor of Estonian geography at the Department of Geography of the University of Tartu. His research topics are history of Estonian geography and cartography, but also onomastics and different aspects of Estonian cultural geography. He is a compiler of The National Atlas of Estonia and author of many popular scientific articles about Estonia geography.

Margarita Oja

Margarita Oja

Margarita is an adventurous creative minimalist, who cares about the planet and turns thoughts into actions. This spring (2020) she finished her bachelors in geography at the University of Tartu. These three years of studying geography gave her a bigger picture of natural sciences, but also allowed her to focus on very specific and narrow topics.

Margarita believes studying geography gave her a strong base of knowledge to create change. She doesn’t only want to protect the environment, she wants to create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting anymore.

Kadri Leetma

Kadri Leetma

Kadri is Senior Researcher in Human Geography at the Department of Geography of the University of Tartu. She is leading the working group at the Centre for Migration and Urban Studies (CMUS). Her research topics are Urban social and population geography, ethnic segregation, internal migration, housing mobility and preferences, urban planning, declining cities, and post-socialist cities.

Bruno Montibeller

Bruno Montibeller

Bruno is a PhD student in the Department of Geography. His research interests are land use and land cover spatial analysis with a focus on forestry and agriculture. Currently, he has started to investigate the relations between land use and land cover changes and surface inland fresh water quality. During his free time, Bruno is a movie and music fan, and enjoy traveling to expand his cultural experiences.

Tiit Tammaru

Tiit Tammaru

Tiit is a professor of Urban and Population Geography and Head of the Centre for Migration and Urban Research at the Department of Geography at the University of Tartu, Estonia. He is a leading scholar on socio-economic and ethnic segregation, urban and neighborhood change, migration, residential mobility and housing. He is especially interested in understanding the spatial dimensions of urban poverty and migration, and associated spatial and social policy. His research interests include migration, residential mobility, housing, ethnic segregation across different life domains (family, neighbourhood of residence, workplace), relations between social inequalities and socioeconomic segregation, as well as comparative segregation studies.

Barbara Hofer

Barbara Hofer

Barbara is Associate Professor at the Z_GIS in Salzburg, the interdisciplinary Centre of Competence for Geoinformatics of the University of Salzburg, Austria. She is Associated Faculty at Doctoral College GIScience, on the Editorial Board of the AGIT - Journal für Angewandte Geoinformatik. Her research interests include Interoperability and spatial data infrastructures, Online Geoprocessing and Digital Earth.
