I chose GIS and cartography as a specialization after entering geography studies at the University of Tartu in 1999. I got my bachelor’s and master’s degree from there and also ended up working there as a GIS specialist. I was also involved in teaching with a more recent focus on photogrammetry and remote sensing. The last activities were more related to UAV’s (drones) and UAV surveying. For a short period of time, I worked also for the Estonian Fund for Nature as a UAV remote sensing specialist.
In 2017 I entered the IT conversion master’s program at the University of Tartu and when searching for a practice position I ended up in Autonomous Driving Lab. Starting from October 2019 I have been working there as an autonomy software engineer with more focus on maps and mapping for autonomous driving.
